Volunteers from Save The Giants set up a booth at our local public school, Duniway Elementary, to help spread the word about the neighborhood's newest park and the need to preserve our large trees for everyone to enjoy. It's out vision that Save The Giants Park will be a wonderful educational resource for Portland and beyond. School kids can visit the park and learn of its unique history, how it was formed, and what we can all do to help protect our urban canopy from disappearing. Kids participated in a "guess the number of tree rings" on a smaller tree round and the winner got a free Save the Giants T-shirt. Tree songs were sung and kids also voted on what featured they'd most like to see in the new park. "Large sticks to build forts" won! Contact us through this site if you'd like to arrange a visit to your school.
